URGENT AID

Emergency aid

Emergency aid is an assistance scheme designed by the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul and through which the International Council General sends financial aid to the areas of the world where the Society is established.

In this page you will find an up-to-date report on the situation in every country, the needs, the aid initiatives the International Council General has been informed about and the way the aid has been used.

Le concept d'aide d'urgence

Emergency aid is a scheme designed on an international basis by the Society to help a country hit by a disaster or a tragedy. That aid is aimed at rebuilding the area devastated either by a man-caused catastrophe (war, people displacement), or by nature (earthquake, floods, drought, typhoons, etc.) Help will be provided for a limited period, but it may extend over several years, depending on the size of the disaster.

One may point out the area to which one particularly wishes to bring help, but part of the donations will always be deposited on the emergency fund so as to respond to similar needs in other parts of the world.

How will aid be allocated?

The Society is established in various parts of the world. It is strongly recommended that any Council or Conference in the world bring support to the country where the disaster has taken place.

In accordance with the wish of the national Society representative, the International Council General will forward the funds specifically intended to the country concerned, or the emergency aid funds.

The beneficiary country will be requested to inform the General International Council of the way the funds received will have been used.

How to help?

The International Council General has opened a special account to collect donations. Please send your donations to the General Council. You may, if you wish, specify to which disaster your donation should be dedicated and make your choice known to:

However, in order to benefit from possible tax bonuses, please send your donation to the Higher Council of your own country who will forward it to the GIC. Otherwise send your donations to the following account:
